Non-Destructive Testing Specialists test the safety of structures and vehicles such as aircraft, trains, nuclear reactors, bridges, dams, and pipelines. They use a variety of NDT testing mechanisms such as acoustic emission, electromagnetic, leak, liquid penetrant, magnetic particle, neutron radiographic, radiographic, thermal or infrared, ultrasonic, vibration analysis, and visual tests. They them must interpret, evaluate, and document results in accordance with applicable codes, standards, specifications, or procedures.

Course Description
This course covers the most common nondestructive tests used in the welding industry: visual testing (VT), penetrant testing (PT), magnetic particle testing (MT), radiographic testing (RT), and ultrasonic testing (UT). Topics covered include discontinuities and their causes, as well as the role of vision, capillary action, magnetism, radiation, and sound in VT, PT, MT, RT and UT respectively.
